About 3,000 people were without electricity in parts of Duluth late Tuesday evening.

The outage was reported about 9:55 p.m. and primarily affected the downtown area, said Steve Kinney, a Minnesota Power spokesman.

The cause hadn't been determined, but the outage had been traced to a feeder line in the vicinity of the 15th Avenue West substation, Kinney said. A couple of crews were on the scene, but it wasn't immediately certain when power would be restored.

Warm conditions on Tuesday led to high demand for electricity, Kinney said. "We're reluctant to say that is the cause, but that is a factor that we take into consideration."

According to Minnesota Power's online outage tracker, power had been restored to the area this morning.
