Touted as a "rare development opportunity," the Pike Lake Golf Course is being offered for sale for nearly $2 million.
"We just put it on the market last week," said Trevor Samsa, who is representing the property for Greg Follmer Commercial Real Estate. "There's been quite a bit of interest in the property so far."
Though it was announced in March that the shuttered golf course in Canosia Township would go up for sale, the $1.95 million price tag has just been affixed to the lakeside links.
The nine-hole course, owned by AAA, sits on nearly 69 acres of lakefront property that includes more than 1,000 feet of shoreline. The course closed for good at the end of last season.
It's possible that the buyer of the property would not leave the land as a golf course, at least not as it lies today. It is being marketed that way, at least.

"This parcel includes gorgeous beachfront, a clubhouse, pavilion and cabana buildings," reads a promotional flyer from the real estate firm. "This rare development opportunity has much potential including a private club, housing, etc."
The land, which sits between Pike Lake and Midway Road / East Pike Lake Road, is zoned as shoreland multiple use, which would allow planned or standalone residential and commercial developments, though the township board would have to issue a permit.
Samsa said there already have been offers on the property, and some of the interest is local.
Canosia Township board chair Kevin Comnick said earlier this year that there were nascent efforts underway to preserve the course.
