A Duluth man in a Chevy Blazer was chasing another car when he lost control of the Blazer and struck a traffic light pole at 26th Avenue East and London Road.
Officials are looking for the driver of the other car, a 1994 Buick LeSabre.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the two vehicles were racing north on Interstate 35, the Blazer in pursuit of the Buick, about 3:30 today afternoon when they attempted to exit east onto London Road. That's when the Blazer lost control and struck the light pole.
The Buick left the scene, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the Blazer, a 37-year-old Duluth man, was listed in critical condition this evening.

A clerk in the Holiday convenience store on the corner said he heard the crash but he didn't see the pursuit that led to it. He said someone rushed in to borrow a fire extinguisher before emergency responders arrived.
