New officers, strategic plan for Duluth LISC

Duluth LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation ) announced its 2012 Local Advisory Board officers at a meeting May 8.

Jennifer Ryan, US Bank-Duluth, was re-elected Chair, and John Scott, DSGW Architects, was elected Vice Chair. Other board members are Abbot Apter, Mercury Investment Co.; Bill Bennett, LHB; Scott Bradt, Wells Fargo Bank-Duluth; Jon Buller, Duluth/Superior Newspapers; Ron Franzen, St. Luke's; Lisa Haberman, State Farm; Peggy Hanson, Minnesota Power Foundation; Sister Kathleen Hofer, Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center; Dave Jensch, Northland's NewsCenter; Frank Jewell, St. Louis County; Joe Johnson, North Shore Bank of Commerce; Shane Johnson, Johnson-Wilson Constructors; Angie Miller, Community Action Duluth; David Montgomery, City of Duluth; Tonja Orr, Minnesota Housing, and Paula Reed, United Way of Greater Duluth.

Also at the same meeting, Duluth LISC released its strategic plan for 2012-2014. The strategic plan is a result of a multi-dimensional planning process and frames how Duluth LISC will continue its 15-year history of leading neighborhood improvements by collaborating with city and elected officials, nonprofits, businesses and neighborhood residents. "Our approach is to ensure that investments in revitalization are producing the desired effects and are potent to the city as a whole," says Duluth LISC Executive Director Pam Kramer. "Duluth LISC leverages $7 for every local dollar raised -- generating $72.7 million in neighborhood revitalization and job creation for Duluth since we opened in 1997." Duluth LISC's strategic priorities for 2012-2014 are to achieve more visible, sustainable results that benefit residents in "At Home in Duluth" neighborhoods, to preserve and develop affordable housing in Greater Duluth, and to use LISC's position and influence to grow citywide partnerships that expand opportunities for residents and businesses.
