Two more workers at the USG plant in Cloquet have been confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus, prompting the facility to suspend operations Wednesday, according to Kathleen Prause, the company's director of corporate communications. A previous COVID-19 case involving an employee at the same plant had been diagnosed a little over a week ago.

Prause said the temporary pause will "allow for a thorough cleaning," permitting production to resume incrementally over the next several days. She anticipates the plant will be fully operational by next week.

Prause noted that the large Cloquet plant will take time to fully cleanse but said: "Some parts will be open tomorrow."

"We continue to monitor with CDC guidance," Prause said, referring to direction USG has received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

USG produces building materials. The Cloquet plant specializes in ceiling products, including ceiling tiles.
