It won't be the same old song and dance at the restaurant inside Duluth's Holiday Inn & Suites downtown.
When it opens this fall, Lyric Kitchen-Bar will provide a revamped space and menu at the former Porter's restaurant on Superior Street.
"There is no doubt that Duluth is changing and Lyric Kitchen-Bar will provide an updated take on the foods that Minnesotans have enjoyed for generations," Adam McCort, Holiday Inn-Duluth's food and beverage manager, said in a press release Tuesday. "From prime rib and popovers to poutine and everything in between, our goal is to offer good food at a great value, in a relaxed and happy atmosphere."
Porter's closed in May as the local owners, Lion Hotel Group, embarked on a $1.2 million renovation led by Kraus-Anderson. The remodel is part of $7.5 million in improvements at the hotel and Holiday Center over the past four years.
The new restaurant was named for the old Lyric block, where the Holiday now stands. The "light-hearted dining experience" at Lyric will carry the tagline of "Good stuff. Not stuffy."

"We are excited to soon welcome Duluthians and visitors to Lyric Kitchen-Bar," Gerry Goldfarb, general manager of the Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth, said in Tuesday's release. "Lyric Kitchen-Bar will be Duluth's newest spot for good food and libation."
An opening is planned for October.
