Lake Superior College in Duluth has received a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the school's center for Advanced Aviation.

The money will bolster the school's efforts to train new pilots, specifically to upgrade capabilities of one of the center's existing flight simulators.

The grant was announced today by U.S. Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar and U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn.

"It's absolutely paramount that tomorrow's pilots receive the best training and education available," Franken said in a news release. "This grant will ensure that Lake Superior College's flight training keeps pace with the best programs in the nation."
