The new Walgreens store at Kenwood Drive and Arrowhead Road in Duluth is set to open Aug. 17.
With its opening, the old Walgreens store across the road at the Kenwood Shopping Center will close. Smaller than most Walgreens stores, it was a Falk's Pharmacy before Walgreens acquired it.
The store will close at 8 p.m. on Aug. 16 at its current location and open the next day at its new site, said Ron Harlander, the pharmacy manager. While merchandise and other items will be moved to the new store all week, the bulk of the move will occur during that one night, he said.
"We will just move everything overnight. We won't close at all," Harlander said.
About six more people are being hired to staff the new store, he said.

"We're excited," Harlander said. "It's a full-size store. It's kind of hard when you have a smaller store. We can't carry as much as a new store."
The opening culminates a years-long effort by Walgreens to build a new store at that intersection, which is near the College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Its attempts to build a store on vacant land on the southwest corner were blocked several times by nearby residents. The new store, which is on the former site of a gas station on the northwest corner, faced less opposition.
