U.S. Highway 2 has reopened west of Ashland after being closed for several hours today in the wake of a vehicle crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol reported that the highway reopened at 1:40 p.m., about six hours after it was closed.
The Ashland County Sheriff's Office had earlier said that Highway 2 was closed along Chequamegon Bay just west of the city of Ashland as a result of the crash.
The State Patrol reported that the accident happened at about 7:30 a.m., but there were no additional details immediately available.
Motorists were directed to use the state Highway 137 alternate route between Ashland and points west.
