Furniture Mart USA to open 3 storefronts in former Duluth Shopko building this month

Renovated with over 120,000 square feet of showroom space, Ashley HomeStore, Ashley Outlet and Furniture Mart will be open seven days a week.

DULUTH — The new Ashley HomeStore located at 801 W. Central Entrance is anticipated to open this month. In addition to Ashley HomeStore, the site will feature Ashley Outlet and Furniture Mart.

"We will offer a full spectrum of products with Ashley HomeStore, Ashley Outlet and Furniture Mart," Chief Operating Officer Troy Eichmann said. "We will offer several bedding lines, including Tempurpedic, Purple, Restonic, Ashley and others as well in the largest bedding gallery in the region. We can’t wait for you to get a look inside."

Its hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Furniture Mart USA purchased the former Shopko building on its 6.7-acre lot for $3 million in spring 2021. A renovation of the inside and out has been completed with upgraded the flooring, lighting and storefront face-lift.

The furniture company owns and operates the brands Furniture Mart, Ashley Homestore, Unclaimed Freight Furniture and Carpet One. Chairman William Hinks founded the business in 1977 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It grew from one store to over 50 locations thought the Midwest. Hinks grew up in and around Superior, Wisconsin, as a child and is looking forward to returning to business in a place that he loves.

"We’ve had our eye on Duluth for some time because we know this market and call it home. And when this property opened up to us, we jumped on it and immediately began planning," said Eichmann. "Duluth and the surrounding area is and has been a very attractive community for us to enter. We have a sizable operation in the state, and Duluth is one of the most important cities that we wanted to be in."

Ashley HomeStore will employ more than 25 associates at its Duluth location.
