Five crew members were injured in a head-on collision between two Canadian National trains north of Two Harbors, according to a CN spokesman. Patrick Waldron declined to characterize the extent of the injuries, but he said the crew members are being treated at local hospitals.
No one was killed, Waldron told the Associated Press.
Three of the injured people were in one train and two were in the other, Waldron said.
One ambulance passed a road construction crew on Highway 61 headed toward Silver Bay. A medical helicopter also was on the scene about 6 p.m.
The crash occurred about 4 p.m., according to witnesses at the scene at Boomers Road Railroad Crossing on Highway 2 about 15 miles north of Two Harbors. The witnesses showed photographs of train cars piled on one another and next to the tracks.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, Waldron said.
