Volunteers are needed for this year's FIRST Robotics competition, March 8-10 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

Volunteer coordinator Kim Elmer said 66 teams are scheduled to compete in the high school engineering challenge, up from 41 last year, the regional's debut. She's looking for 20-25 volunteers, and, for the most part, no skills are necessary. Volunteers are needed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 8, 9 and 10 for a variety of tasks. Volunteers also are needed the afternoon of March 7 to help with field assembly and for a social on the evening of March 9 when 1,000 teens in the competition will be at Grandma's Sports Garden. Volunteers can sign up for the entire event or portions of the event.
