The repaving project along Duluth's Central Entrance probably will be completed ahead of schedule, and motorists and businesses seem to be adapting to it well, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
Weather permitting, contractor Hardrives Inc. is on pace to be done by mid-July, or about two weeks early, MnDOT spokesman John Bray said. And Bray said he has heard no complaints about inconvenience caused by the
2.5-mile resurfacing.
"Normally, I am the one who gets most of the complaints from businesses and citizens," he said. "I haven't received even one complaint on this job. It's been handled real well."
The state is repaving Central Entrance from Mesaba Avenue to Anderson Road. Hardrives, based in Rogers, Minn., bid nearly $1.6 million for the work, part of the federal economic stimulus act.

Bray said one reason the state hasn't received more complaints may be that the bulk of the work is happening overnight, as is often done in larger metropolitan areas, such as the Twin Cities.
"We don't do much night work up here," Bray said, "but the reason we are this time is that it's such a busy corridor."
Work is proceeding well on two other major road projects. The Boundary Avenue project is expected to be completed by late November; the Miller Hill Corridor project by sometime in December.
"Things are pretty well on schedule," Bray said. "We've had pretty good weather and no glitches."
