Rep.-elect Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., has been selected to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee when he joins Congress next year.
That's the committee currently chaired by Rep. Jim Oberstar, the man Cravaack beat in the November election to represent Minnesota's 8th Congressional District.
Cravaack has been critical of some transportation projects supported by Oberstar, including bikes paths, the new terminal at Duluth International Airport and the Northern Lights Express passenger rail proposal.
Rep. John L. Mica, R-Fla., chairman-designate of the committee, announced the new Republican members of the committee for the 112th Congress on Thursday.
"The committee and its new Republican members will be at the forefront of cutting government waste and red tape, and to finding cost effective solutions for getting our country moving in the right direction," Mica said in a statement.
