Country music star Dierks Bentley was in the Northland this week to pick up a new Cirrus plane at the company's Duluth facility.
Bentley, who underwent training for the 2012 SR22T Xi while in Duluth from Tuesday through Friday morning, posed for a group photo with Cirrus staff on Thursday. The singer also performed at Cirrus' party ahead of this year's EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, Wis., in July.
"We are grateful for each of our customers, and that Dierks is also a country music star is an added bonus," said Debbie Breemeersch, Cirrus' executive director of marketing.
The "Xi" in the plane's name refers to Cirrus' Xi personalization program. Plane owners can work with Cirrus staff as the aircraft is built, so it meets their individual needs and specifications.
Bentley, 36, has had several hits reach the top of the country music charts over the past decade. He's nominated for three 2012 CMA Awards -- single of the year, album of the year and song of the year -- for "Home." The CMA Awards are Nov. 1.
