Coast Guard rescues passenger from Paul R. Tregurtha

An 83-year-old passenger who was a guest aboard the Paul R. Tregurtha was airlifted from the laker this morning, after experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath. At about 9 a.m., the U.S. Coast Guard used an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter to transport John Hughes, no address available, from the Tregurtha, located about 30 miles northeast of the Apostle Islands, to a waiting ambulance at the Houghton, Mich., Airport. From there, he was taken to the Keewanaw Memorial Medical Center and was transferred on to Marquette General Hospital, where he was admitted. No information on Hughes' condition was available this afternoon.
