Most of last week's testimony in the Reserve Mining case before Judge Miles Lord in U.S. District Court in St. Paul centered on Reserve's effort to prove there is no asbestos in the Peter Mitchell Mine near Babbitt.

Terry Egerdahl, sophomore halfback from Proctor, yesterday was named most valuable player of the 1973 UMD Bulldog football squad by his teammates. Egerdahl was UMD's second leading rusher this season with a total of 605 yards. News Tribune, Nov. 11, 1993

Last month the city of Duluth condemned the former Emerson School building and told residents they'd have to move by the end of November. Yesterday, an appeals board gave a potential buyer a four-month extension to bring the building up to safety standards.

Steelworkers at the National Steel Pellet Co. plant in Keewatin hope updated cost statistics on company taconite production will save the pellet plant from long-term shutdown.
