* The St. Louis County Board next week will initiate in Virginia what is expected to become regular evening meetings. Board Chairman A. Lloyd Shannon said as many as one meeting a month may now be held in the evening.
* Classes in English for Vietnamese refugees have been organized by the Duluth public schools at Chester Park Elementary School. Larry Annett, director of curriculum, said 25 adults and seven children of school age are enrolled in the classes.

* Although adults around Chub Lake near Carlton yesterday failed to spot 3-year-old Ariel Gist having trouble in the water, Rachel Sarazine didn’t. Ten-year-old Rachel dove in, pulled her friend above water and carried her to shore, saving her life.
* Despite less-than-ideal weather, the seventh annual Bayfront Blues Festival was the most successful in the event’s history. In its second year as a paid event, the bluesfest drew about 40,000 people to Bayfront Festival Park last weekend.
