Book World chain closing its stores

A book store chain with locations in the Northland is closing.
Book World announced Tuesday that all of its 45 stores, spread across seven states including Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, will begin liquidation sales on Thursday, the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune reported. The sales are expected to last until January.
Book World's locations include Hayward and Ashland in Wisconsin, as well as Ironwood, Mich.
The Appleton-based retailer cited a shift toward online shopping - leading to a drop in customers and sales - as the reason for the closure, WBAY-TV reported.
