A 27-year-old Bloomington, Minn., man was seriously injured when his vehicle ran off Interstate 35 during a pursuit with the Minnesota State Patrol early today.
According to the State Patrol, August J. Klitzke was driving a 1994 Ford Explorer southbound on I-35 when he drove off the highway and into trees about one mile south of Pine City.
Klitzke was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which took place at 1:33 a.m. on a dry road. Alcohol was detected on Klitzke, according to the State Patrol. He was taken to Pine Memorial hospital in Sandstone with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Pine and Chisago county sheriffs' offices assisted the State Patrol with the incident.
