* Patrick Johns, a Duluth native and president of Anoka-Ramsey Community College, was named the 2008 District 5 Pacesetter of the Year by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The annual award is given to a community college president or chief executive officer who has demonstrated special leadership and support in marketing and public relations. District 5 includes two-year colleges in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Manitoba.
Johns is a graduate of Marshall (Cathedral) School and earned bachelor's degrees from the University of Minnesota Duluth, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and a doctorate in education from the University of South Dakota.

* The Northwest Long-Term Care District will do business as NorthernBridges, a managed care organization offering long-term care services to elders and adults with disabilities.
NorthernBridges will be under contract with the state of Wisconsin to offer the "Family Care" model of long-term care in northwest Wisconsin beginning in March.
