  • JoLissa Kowalik was promoted to circulation sales and marketing manager at the Duluth News Tribune effective today. In her new position she will play a key role in identifying growth areas and developing strategies for success. Kowalik joined the circulation call center in September 2009. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and is pursuing a master's degree in management at the College of St. Scholastica.

  • Re/Max 1 in Duluth hired Jennifer Janchar as a real estate agent. Janchar has been an active real estate agent for more than 15 years and specializes in residential and lake shore properties.

    AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

  • Coldwell Banker East West Realty announced Jeanne Tondryk received the award for Top 10 State of Minnesota Total Units Closed and for Sales Units Closed for the third quarter of 2010. Tondryk competed against all Coldwell Banker agents who are part of the independent franchise operation of Coldwell Banker Real Estate. BOARD ELECTIONS

  • Dr. Philip Eckman of Duluth was reappointed to a four-year term to the Minnesota Crime Victims Reparations Board by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety commissioner Michael Campion. Eckman's term will expire Jan. 1, 2015. A retired surgeon, Eckman served as the president and chief executive officer of the Duluth Clinic from 1982-95. He has been a member of the Reparations Board since 1998.

    The Minnesota Crime Victims Reparations Board provides compensation to victims of violent crime and their families.
