  • Grandma's Marathon hired Tara Sieve as program development director. Sieve previously worked as health and wellness director at Duluth Area Family YMCA. She earned her degree in public health education and promotion from University of Minnesota Duluth.
  • Scenic Rivers Health Services announced Dr. Charles Tietz of Virginia was hired as a obstetrics and gynaecology specialist at the Cook and Tower clinics. Tietz earned his medical degree from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1962 and completed his residency at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 1965.
  • Trina Hoff of Eveleth was promoted to president and CEO of Northern Communities Credit Union. Hoff, previously executive vice president, took over for Larry Champeaux upon his retirement. She has been with the credit union for 22 years.
  • HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab of Duluth hired Dr. Caitlyn Hannold of Cambridge Springs, Pa., as an associate chiropractor. Hannold earned a degree in biology from Clarion (Pa.) University, and bachelor's degree in life sciences and doctorate of chiropractic from Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo.
  • Attorney Eric Beyer joined SiebenCarey law firm in Duluth. Beyer previously practiced at Duluth's Falsani, Balmer, Peterson, Quinn and Beyer for more than 18 years. The Duluth native is licensed to practice law in state and federal court in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. He earned his bachelor's degree from University of Minnesota Duluth and his juris doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul.

 
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

  • Visit Duluth's media communications manager Bob Gustafson received the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce. As part of the award, National Bank of Commerce will make a $500 donation in Gustafson's name to a local charity of his choice. Gustafson, an ambassador for the Hermantown Area Chamber and member of the Canal Park Business Association, was recognized for going above and beyond in volunteering his time to chamber events.
  • St. Luke's was named a breastfeeding friendly business by Northland Breastfeeding Coalition. St. Luke's was recognized for giving employees a flexible schedule that allows time for expressing milk and for providing a private location made special for expressing milk and washing breastfeeding equipment.
  • The Duluth Award Program announced ASP Plumbing won the 2016 Best of Duluth Award in the plumbing contractors category. ASP was chosen for having enhanced the image of small business through quality service to customers and the community.
  • Century 21 Gilderman and Associates announced Michele Vesel was named Top Sales Agent for the month of November.

 
CERTIFICATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS

  • Rebecca Tardy and Liz Seefeldt earned Human Resource Management Certificates from the Center for Continuing Educations at University of Wisconsin-Superior. The certification program provides 48 hours of training in human resource management. Tardy is operations and human resources specialist at Range Mental Health Center in Virginia. Seefeldt is executive director at Brick Ministries in Ashland.

  • On Friday, Two Harbor's Human Development Center will relocate from its downtown office to Lake View Hospital at 325 11th Ave. in Two Harbors.
  • JMR Financial Group relocated to Suite 305 of the Badger Building at 1225 Tower Ave. in Superior.

  • LHB announced its Duluth office employees Ray Somrock, Todd Mell and Jean Farmakes were elected LHB shareholders. Somrock is a senior electrical designer with LHB's Pipeline Group. The Duluth native earned his electrical and computer science engineering degrees from University of Minnesota Duluth. Mell, a professional engineer, works as a certified qualified commissioning process provider. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. Farmakes works as general counsel attorney. She holds a degree in political science from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and earned her law degree from University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis.
