  • Grandmothers for Peace (Northland Chapter) is seeking donations, now until Dec. 23, of new and gently used books and new art supplies for young people this holiday season.

Duluth drop-off sites: Peace United Church of Christ, 1111 N. 11th Ave. E.; Bookstore at Fitger's, 600 E. Superior St.; Zenith Bookstore, 318 N. Central Ave.; and UMD Children's Place, 260 Kirby Plaza.

Meal Packer for home delivered meals: A cold bag and a hot tray are prepared for each client. Meals are then packed into a hot bag and a cold bag for each delivery route. Meal packers must be able to volunteer for at least 1½ hours once a week, Monday through Friday, beginning at 8 a.m. or as your schedule allows; able to stand for 1½ hours at a time; and must complete the Ecumen Lakeshore volunteer application process.

Delivery Drivers for home delivered meals: Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up meals from Ecumen Lakeshore, 4002 London Road. Meals are ready for pick up at 9:45 a.m., Monday through Friday. Each route takes approximately one hour. Empty route bags and the list of clients is then returned to Ecumen Lakeshore. Drivers must be available at 9:45 a.m. for an hour or two; possess a vehicle that is in good working order; have a current driver’s license and insurance coverage.
