Cindy Telega's yard in the village of Superior offers a wonderland for fairies, literally. "I started out with one little house," Telega said. "And it got a little bigger." What started as a 3-by-3-foot garden is now a 3-by-15-foot space where miniature fairies and a gnome mingle among small bushes, trees and tiny blossoms — all creating a raised-bed fairy garden.
Less than 10 percent of registered Douglas County voters decided city council, village trustee, town and county boards and school board races Tuesday night. There were no surprises in the uncontested Superior City Council race. All the candidates elected are veterans of city government. Councilors Dan Olson, Warren Bender, Denise McDonald, Bob Finsland and Esther Dalbec ran unopposed, as did former city councilor Dennis Dalbec. Only four of the 21 open seats on the Douglas County Board were contested.
