Henry J. (Heggie) Koski, 87, formerly of Mt. Iron, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. He was born on May 28, 1915, to Henry and Selma (Perala) Koski in Virginia. He grew up on a dairy farm in Mt. Iron and attended Mt. Iron public schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with the Third Armored (Spearhead) Division during WWII. On February 2, 1946, he married Eva Weckstrom in Reno, NV. After residing in California for a number of years, the couple made their home in Mt. Iron. He owned and operated Koski heating and Sheet Metal Company.
Lawrence 'Shorty' G. Kotaska, 87, of Grand Rapids, MN., died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Rita Nelson and Janice Hill, and two sons, Robert and David. VISITATION:will be 5-7 PM with a Wake Prayer service at 5 PM on Friday, at the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Saturday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids.
Olga Pichetti, 90, of Jefferson St., died Saturday, August 17, 2002, in Duluth. Olga was born March 5, 1912, in Hibbing, to Costantino and Teresa (Baldieri) Becchetti. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1930, and the University of Minnesota in 1934. She then accepted a position as a social worker in Duluth where she met and married her husband of 56 years, Peter C. Pichetti. She spent most of her married life as a homemaker, and was active in the community, volunteering at hospitals, garden clubs and many school and youth organizations.
