Bert W. Reinertsen, 83, Two Harbors, MN., died Monday, August 26, 2002, at Lake View Memorial Hospital. He was born October 18, 1918, to Louis and Ida (Strom) Reinertsen, in Two Harbors, where he was a lifelong resident. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Gooseberry, then served in the Army during World War II in France. He was employed by the DM&IR Railroad for many years, until retiring as a conductor in 1979. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved fishing, especially river and shore fishing.
Helen H. Peterson, 81, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Duluth, died on Monday, August 26, 2002 at Good Shepherd Care Center, Peoria, AZ She is survived by loving husband, Richard, of 55 years; son Charles (Lou Ann) and grandchildren Sarah and John, Glendale, AZ; son Richard (Maggie), Minneapolis, MN., daughter Nancy (David) Ramaley and grandchildren Austin and Krista of Park City, UT.
Clara Jane Peterson, 85, formerly of 63rd Ave. W., Ramsey Manor and Lake Haven Manor, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Clara was born in Duluth to Ernest and Agnes (Cheslak) Karulak. Clara worked as a cook at the former Jolly Fisher for 22 years retiring in 1965. Clara was a member of the former Good Shepherd Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1988; sister Virginia Karulak; brother Chester Karulak; grandson Ronald Leitz, Jr.
Signe Evelyn Kittelson, 84, of Hermantown, MN., died on Friday, August 23, 2002, at her residence. She was born on December 1, 1917, in Solon Springs, WI., to Olfa and Alma (Johnson) Jerseth. Signe attended grade school in Solon Springs. On October 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Edwin Truman Kittelson in Solon Springs. She was employed at the Valley Farm, and the Lake Nebagamon Boy's Camp. She worked at Minnesuing Acres for 10 years. She was a life long resident of both Solon Springs and Lake Nebagamon. Signe was a member of the Hawthorne Assembly of God Church.
Richard Kaminski, 66, a resident of Solon Springs, died August 11, 2002, in Solon Springs. SERVICE:A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at 10 AM. The Brown Funeral Home in Solon Springs is assisting with the arrangements.
Carol J. Hanson, 64, of rural Babbitt, and formerly of Marshall, MN., where she resided and worked for 30 years, died Saturday, August 24, 2002, at the Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital. She was born in Worthington, MN., on Oct. 7, 1937, to Rueben and Marion (McNab) Rossow. She was a 1955 graduate of Brewster H.S. in Brewster, MN., and was an active participant and leader in the 4-H Club. Carol operated a family canoe outfitting business with her husband and son for the past 8 years in Babbitt and worked part-time for Irresistible Ink in Ely.
Vernice J. Crego Friend, 76, formerly of Orr, Hibbing, Minneapolis, and Gheen, died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at the Cook Nursing Home.
Gladys G. Colborn, 87 of 2415 E. 5th St., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 in her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, in 1958, a brother, two sisters, and two great-grandsons. MEMORIAL SERVICE:The funeral will be 11:30 AM Thursday, in Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. James Tobolski officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Grace A. Bothun passed away August 1, in Salt Lake City, after a long illness. She was born February 11, 1919, in Crosby, ND., to Esther and George Johncox. She attended Denfeld High School and was married to Dr. Mark Bothun. Grace lived in Duluth unti lthe early 1970's, and then lived in West Palm Beach, FL., near her son Bruce and family. She lived in Salt Lake City for the last four years near her daughter Linda and family. Grace was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was an expert at crocheting and handwork.
