Office staff for U.S. Sen. Al Franken will be at Denfeld High School on Monday night to talk to parents and students about options for paying for college. The “College Affordability Resource Night” begins at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at the school. Dan Solomon, Franken’s education adviser in Minnesota, will lead discussions that will include financial aid information. A college financial aid counselor will also be available.
Free blood lead testing is being offered in Duluth on Wednesday for individuals who are at risk for lead poisoning. The tests will be given from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Myers-Wilkins Elementary School, 1027 N. Eighth Ave. E. They’re available for children younger than 6 and for pregnant or nursing women.
