ROCHESTER, Minn. -- A career criminal who turned violent and changed his name after escaping federal custody in Minnesota about 25 years ago and fleeing to Nevada has been arrested again. Robert Frederick Nelson, 64, of North Las Vegas, committed a string of robberies and burglaries with a weapon in Nevada after he escaped from the Federal Medical Center prison in Rochester, Minn., in 1992.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- Jake Robinson of Shakopee has tied his own Minnesota record for a flathead catfish in the catch-and-release length category with a 49-incher taken from the Minnesota River in nearby Savage. Robinson landed the huge fish on May 15, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The 49-inch fish had a girth of 33-1/2 inches and was taken on a 100-pound test line..
STURGIS, S.D. - - The fastest woman on four wheels, who also likes her motorcycles, will be this year’s grand marshal at the 77th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Black Hills native Jessi Combs will be the grand marshal for the 15th Annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride scheduled to take place on Monday, Aug. 7.
RYDER, N.D. — Pretty much all of the eligible riders showed up last weekend in Ryder to start training on riding motorcycles as Harley-Davidson Motor Co. is hoping to make the western North Dakota town the first in America to have all of its residents fully licensed as riders. Mike Roach, leader of public relations for Harley-Davidson in the U.S., said 50 people signed up for a riding academy in the first three hours on Saturday, which he said was all of the eligible riders with a driver's license in the town of 85 people about 40 miles southwest of Minot.
RAPID CITY, S.D.—An error by pilots has been blamed for the mistaken landing of a Delta Air Lines flight last summer in western South Dakota, according to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board.. The plane that with 130 passengers aboard from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport was supposed to land at the Rapid City Regional Airport last July 7, but instead landed about six miles away at the Ellsworth Air Force Base. The two airfields have runways that nearly line up as they both run northwest-to-southeast..
