Nicholas Stowman, 15, of Duluth, places a bouquet of flowers at a memorial for Will Schlotec at the jumping-off at the Deeps in Duluth on Monday afternoon. Schlotec died while jumping into Amity Creek last Saturday.  Stowman was a friend of Schlotec and took classes with him. The 12th Street Beach on Park Point was a popular place to be Monday afternoon as temperatures soared into the 80s for the third straight day. The heat won't last much longer, though -- a big cooldown is in the forecast for later in the week, the National Weather Service reported; highs on Thursday may struggle to reach 60.
