The flooding of June 2012 overwhelmed two culverts near the corner of 63rd Avenue West and Bristol Street in West Duluth, and portions of the streets have been closed ever since. On 63rd Avenue West, the concrete culvert (visible at lower right) remained intact, but floodwaters rushing around it eroded gravel and dirt from under the street and washed away a sidewalk.
