Prep report: Greenway's Lawson excels in all-star game

Steve Kuchera / Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl's Cam Kreibich blocks a shot as the White team's goalie in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Greenway forward Dante Lawson's goal at 3:49 in the third period proved to be the game-winner as Team Yellow edged Team White 5-4 on Tuesday night at the St. Luke's All-Star Hockey Game at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Duluth Marshall's Levi Stauber opened the scoring 21 seconds into the contest on an assist from Hermantown's Jacob Herter and Lawson. Team White came back with a pair of goals to take the lead before Lawson scored the equalizer late in the first period.

Team Yellow took control with three unanswered goals by Willy Stauber and Branden Matteen in the second period and Lawson's game-winner early in the third. Team White stormed back with goals from Darian Gotz and George Grannis midway through the third period, but that's how it would stay as Cam Brandt and Ben LaFont combined for 25 saves for Team Yellow.

Lawson finished with two goals and an assist in being named most valuable player.
