Rowing club to hold fundraiser
The Duluth Rowing Club will hold a fundraiser Friday as it nears its goal for the new $1 million Duluth Rowing Center on Park Point.
“Over the past two years, the Duluth Rowing Club has demolished its old structure, built two new buildings, and is preparing for the last phase of the project — the grounds work and landscaping. This final phase includes a parking area, shoreline rock, trees, lawn and shrubbery. Completing this phase is critical as it is a requirement to obtain certificate of occupancy from the city,” club officials said.
The project is at 94 percent of its fundraising goal; club members also have contributed more than 5,000 hours of labor on the project.
Friday’s “Icebreaker Party” fundraiser takes place from 5-8 p.m. in the Moorish Room at the Greysolon Plaza, 231 E. Superior St.
The event will include a program on the new rowing center, a silent and live auction, appetizers, cocktails and craft beer, and music.
Tickets are $40 in advance at the Duluth Rowing Club website, duluthrowingclub.com; they’re $45 at the door.
