College men's hockey: Bulldogs up two spots to No. 8

Immersed in a five-game unbeaten streak, Minnesota Duluth climbed two spots — from No. 10 to No. 8 — in the Division I men's hockey poll released Monday.

The Bulldogs (4-2-2), buoyed by sophomore goaltender Hunter Shepard, went on the road to sweep Maine over the weekend. They won 2-1 on Friday and 2-0 on Saturday, with Shepard starting both nights and picking up his first collegiate shutout.

UMD, which opens NCHC play this coming weekend at No. 2 St. Cloud State, has been ranked in the top 10 of every weekly poll since March 7, 2016.

Topping Monday's poll was Denver. The Pioneers received 42 of 50 first-place votes, with the Huskies picking up the remaining eight.
