HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series is must-see TV for football fans pining for behind-the-scenes footage, drama — both real and contrived — and loose language.

And while the football team at St. Scholastica on Thursday announced its own television series with Fox Sports North, don’t expect first-year coach Kurt Ramler, or any of his players, to be caught on film unleashing a string of expletives.

At least he hopes not, though Ramler admits he doesn’t know what to expect with all those cameras present.

“You know, I’m not sure exactly what it’s going to be like,” said Ramler, who was hired this spring to replace Greg Carlson, the only coach the Saints had known. “You’ll have to tune in and find out.”

St. Scholastica, a perennial NCAA Division III playoff entrant, will be featured in five 30-minute episodes dubbed “Inside the Huddle at St. Scholastica,” which will air each Wednesday night on weeks following Saints home games. The episodes will include interviews with Ramler and players, game highlights and footage spotlighting “the off-the-field experience at

St. Scholastica from a

student-athlete’s perspective,” according to a St. Scholastica news release.

Essentially, Ramler said, it will be slice-of-life programming. The coach said the project started with conversations between him and FSN’s Todd Fultz, a longtime friend who will help host the series.

“We just thought it was a great idea for the college,” Ramler said. “I think it’s going to be a blast.”

Any concerns about cameras catching his players off-guard?

“In today’s era, what kid doesn’t have a camera in his face all the time (because of cellphones), right?” Ramler said. “Our program is a transparent one. We believe we’ve got as good of a program as it gets, and we’re more than willing to go full disclosure.”

The Saints start their seventh season against Ripon College on Sept. 6 at Public Schools Stadium.

The first “Inside the Huddle at St. Scholastica” episode will air at 11 p.m. on Sept. 10.

“For a Division III institution like St. Scholastica to have the opportunity to be featured on a cable network like Fox Sports North throughout the season, we couldn’t be more thrilled,” St. Scholastica athletic director Don Olson said in the release. “It will not only enhance our football program’s reputation, but also our athletic department and institution’s reputation in general.”
