Huskies can’t keep pace with hard-hitting Bucks

Will Sparks and Kevin Kaczmarski each had three of Waterloo’s 13 hits as the Bucks beat the Duluth Huskies 8-2 in a Northwoods League baseball game on Thursday night before 2,111 at Wade Stadium.

Nick Deckert of Florida Golf Coast allowed five hits and two runs in six innings to get the win for Waterloo (12-8).

Alex Michaels had three hits and Keach Ballard had two hits and an RBI to lead Duluth (8-11), which has lost three straight. The Huskies were playing their first home game since July 13, including the previous three days as part of the NWL All-Star break.

A nice crowd came out on Thursday for Here’s to the Heroes Night, which included a fireworks display, made up from May 31. Huskies players wore camouflage jerseys.

The same teams play a rematch at 6:35 p.m. today at Wade Stadium.
