Huskies rally falls short against Stingers
Hutton Moyer’s solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning — his third of the night — lifted the Willmar Stingers to a 9-8 victory over the Duluth Huskies on Wednesday in a Northwoods League baseball at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar, Minn.
Trent Chatterton and Dominic Brugnoni had three hits apiece as the Huskies (6-8) rallied from 4-1 and 8-5 deficits to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning.
But Moyer put an end to it for the Stingers (9-6) by hitting the second pitch he saw from Duluth reliever Bo Hellquist, who had just entered the game.
The Huskies had 16 hits but left nine men on base.
Duluth plays the first of two games at St. Cloud beginning at 7:05 p.m. today.
