Blue Anchors capitalize on Huskies errors

Kris Goodman hit a two RBI single in the top of the eighth inning and an error by Huskies’ third baseman Eric Peterson allowed Goodman to score on the next play, giving Alexandria a 6-3 victory over Duluth in front of 1,119 fans at Wade Stadium on Saturday.

Duluth took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning when Nolan Johnson drove in Alex Michaels. Dominic Miroglio scored two batters later after an error by Alexandria third baseman Ben Allen.

Alexandria’s Rickey Sanchez gave the Blue Anchors the lead in the fourth inning with a three-run home run off Huskies pitcher Austin Christensen.

Dominic Brunoni tied the game in the fifth inning when he scored on a sacrifice fly from Keach Ballard, but Duluth only managed one more hit the remainder of the game.

Pitcher Austin Christensen had a strong outing allowing just three runs and four hits in 6⅔ innings.

Duluth will begin a two game set against Willmar today at Wade Stadium before heading to Rochester on Tuesday.
