Little league baseball: Hibbing umpire lands World Series role

Longtime umpire Babe Glumack of Hibbing has been selected to officiate the Junior Little League World Series, making it the fourth time in his 45-year umpiring career that he’s been honored with a World Series assignment.

The event, which is for children ages 13 and 14, runs from Aug. 10-16 in Taylor, Mich.

Glumack, 64, a 1968 Hibbing High School graduate, previously has umpired the 1985 American Legion World Series, the 2000 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., and the 2003 Senior Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine.
