College women's soccer: UMD's season ends in another shutout loss
A second 1-0 defeat in three days spoiled the Minnesota Duluth women's soccer team's postseason hopes and ended the Bulldogs' campaign Sunday in Minot, N.D.
Despite owning a 7-3 edge in shots on goal, UMD couldn't solve Minot State keeper Erin Rafferty. Instead, the Bulldogs dropped their fourth 1-0 decision in the past six games. Entering the weekend, they had a chance to crack the NSIC's eight-team playoff bracket, but were blanked twice, including Friday's home loss to Mary.
UMD, which outshot its opponents by a combined 301-194 on the season but scored two fewer goals, ends the year 7-10-1 overall and 6-8-1 in the NSIC.
