College track and field: Rubeck sets UMD record
Minnesota Duluth's Logan Rubeck finished with a school-record 4,872 points to finish fourth at the NSIC Heptathlon Championships on Monday in Mankato, Minn.
Rubeck, a senior chemical engineering major from Eau Claire, Wis., tied for second in the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet, 1.25 inches, and was third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.57 seconds. His 4,872 points not only bettered the previous school record of 4,778, set by Ben Niemann in 2013, it also is an NCAA Division II qualifying mark.
Wayne State's Robert Sullivan won with 5,202 points.
