Northwoods League: Floodgates open in Huskies loss

The Waterloo Bucks took what amounted to batting practice against Duluth Huskies pitchers Saturday night, scoring six runs in the first inning and opening up a 12-run lead in the first three innings of the penultimate Northwoods League regular-season game Saturday night in Waterloo, Iowa.

The Bucks (14-21 second half) added five more runs in the seventh to finish off the Huskies 17-2.

Five Huskies pitchers allowed 21 hits and didn't strike out a single batter. The run total was the most give up by Duluth (16-20) this season.

Dalton Hurd was 5-for-5 and Jay Schuyler was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Drew Greenwood had three RBIs, two coming on a homer that keyed the first inning.

The teams conclude the regular season at 2:05 p.m. today in Waterloo.
