Northwoods League: Huskies head into break with win
The Duluth Huskies salvaged a weekend split on the road by routing the Rochester Honkers 11-3 in Northwoods League play Sunday at Mayo Field in Rochester.
Designated hitter Kyle Hubbuch led the Huskies (7-5) going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Two of his three hits were home runs — his fourth and fifth of the season — while the other was a double.
First baseman Luke Roskam hit his fourth home run of the season in the win over the Honkers (7-4) while going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Huskies starting pitcher Garrett Brown surrendered just two hits in five-plus innings for the win. He gave up one run, four walks and struck out four.
The Huskies are now off for three days for the Northwoods League All-Star Game, which is Tuesday in Wausau, Wis. The Huskies travel to St. Cloud to play the Rox on Thursday, then return home to Wade Stadium on Friday to begin a 10-day homestand.
