The 28th annual Fitger's 5K goes off at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Duluth.

As of Thursday, a limited number of spots remained in the 2,100-runner field — up from 2,000 in years past.

Road closures along the course, which starts and ends near Fitger's, include Superior Street, Canal Park Drive and Railroad Street. Sections of all three will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Defending champs are Duluth native Scott Behling, the top male a year ago in 16 minutes, 8 seconds, and St. Paul's Megan Baertsch (19:27), the winning female.

All finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal and a quarter-zip shirt.
