College softball: UWS drops pair in Florida

Wisconsin Superior stumbled twice in a doubleheader against Manchester (Ind.) University on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla., as the Spartans knocked off the Yellowjackets 4-2 and 8-1 in the first two of four meetings between the teams.

Manchester (3-8-1) scored three runs in the seventh inning of the first game to overcome a 2-1 deficit.

Katie White and Bailey Kinnunen of Grand Rapids had the only hits for UWS (5-5) off pitcher Mallorie Jennings. UWS starter Sarah Hendrickson, who scattered seven hits, was hurt by three unearned runs.

In the second game, Katie Skeens drove in six runs on two home runs, including a third-inning grand slam, while Manchester's Madisyn Walter tossed a three-hitter for her first victory of the season..
