Junior hockey: Iron Rangers reach Bill Salonen Cup final

Matt O’Dea scored on a power play with 4:06 left in the game to lift the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 3-2 win over the Thunder Bay North Stars on Sunday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League playoff series game in Hoyt Lakes.

With the victory, the Iron Rangers win the best-of-seven series 4-2 and advance to the Bill Salonen Cup final against the Fort Frances (Ontario) Lakers.

Thomas Fazio and Jonathon Losurdo also scored for Minnesota, which took a 2-0 lead early in the second period before Thunder Bay knotted the game in the third. Iron Rangers goalie Alex Reichler made 19 saves in the victory. A schedule for the final series has not yet been announced.
