This female black bear, photographed near a trap site, is one of three radio-collared adult female bears killed by hunters this fall in the Chippewa National Forest area. The radio-collared bears were part of a Department of Natural Resources study. It is not illegal for hunters to shoot collared bears, although the DNR asks hunters to avoid shooting them.
