Reader's View: Russ has experience to benefit council
I believe Barb Russ has demonstrated her skills and expertise as an At-Large Duluth city councilor in her first term and deserves our support for re-election.
Her priorities with respect to affordable housing and living-wage jobs I can get behind, and her decades of experience as a retired attorney who devoted her life to working in the public sector has been a real asset in her role as city councilor.
I personally have worked with Russ on the Duluth Sister Cities initiative and appreciate her support of this important international citizen-to-citizen diplomacy program.
As a previous small-business owner, I believe all employees should have access to paid sick time and also appreciate Russ' leadership in examining this important issue and working to move forward an ordinance in Duluth.
Russ has demonstrated her leadership in the nonprofit sector by serving not only as an active board member but as board president and chairwoman for the YWCA, PAVSA, and the 11th District Bar Association.
Experience matters, and Russ has that experience.
Please join me in voting for Barb Russ on Nov. 7.
