Reader's view: Spirit Valley parade deserved better coverage

The Spirit Valley Days parade should have received better coverage.

It is Duluth’s second-largest parade with more than 70 units, including our mounted police patrol, disabled veterans, Denfeld High School, Shriners, and local business representation — not to mention, this year, even Santa made an appearance.

The night news I watched had a three- to five-second blip on the parade that showed only its own news truck and weather forecaster. There was nothing of the rest of the parade or the spectators who lined the streets for several blocks.

It takes lots of work and many volunteers to put this parade together. It deserved more. The local TV personnel are not as important as they may think they are.
