Reader's View: We get flu shots 'to stay alive'
I read the Jan. 6 letter, "Of course the CDC would push flu shots," with with alarm and anger. I believe the Centers for Disease Control's primary goal is to prevent disease and promote health, not take money from pharmaceutical companies. The CDC urges flu-vaccination compliance because influenza is an ever-changing and deadly virus.
We live in a community that is not in isolation. Because of this we have certain responsibilities, and we also have limits on our liberties.
As I was talking about this, my 7-year-old granddaughter walked into the kitchen and said, "I know why I get a flu shot: to stay alive." I think she's right.
